Marie-Aude Murail, born in Le Havre in 1954, is a French author. She comes from a family of writers and studied literature and philosophy at the Sorbonne in Paris. She became known particularly for her children’s and young adult books, including the series about Émilien and the novel »Simple«. She received the German Youth Literature Prize in 2008 for »Simple«. In 2022, she was awarded the Hans Christian Andersen Award for her body of work.
