Maria Zambrano

María Zambrano (1904–1991) was a Spanish philosopher and writer. During the Spanish Civil War, she supported the Republican side and co-founded the journal *Hora de España*. She went into exile in 1939 and lived in France, Mexico, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Italy, and Switzerland, among other places. She returned to Spain in 1984. In 1988, she received the Cervantes Prize.
