Maria Nurowska

Maria Nurowska (1944–2022) was a Polish writer. She was born on 3 March 1944 in a village near Suwałki, Poland, and studied Polish and Slavic philology at the University of Warsaw. She made her literary debut in 1974 in the monthly magazine Literatura; her first collection of short stories was published the following year. Among her best-known works is the novel Letters of Love (1992), which incorporates autobiographical accounts by the Polish writer and Auschwitz survivor Krystyna Żywulska.
