Maria Elisabeth Straub was born in Schleswig-Holstein in 1943 and studied art history and German literature. From 1970 onward, she worked as a freelance author and published works of cultural history and fiction. Together with Martina Borger, she wrote the novel “Katzenzungen” (2001), followed by “Kleine Schwester” (2002), “Im Gehege” (2004), and “Sommer mit Emma” (2009). In 2006, Straub published “Das Geschenk,” a novel written without a co-author.
