Maria Braig was born in Isny in the Allgäu region in 1957. She studied German, history and empirical cultural studies in Munich and Tübingen. Braig worked as an author, editor and truck driver and was involved in socio-political causes, including environmental, peace, asylum and human-rights work. Her novel *nie wieder zurück* was published by Querverlag in 2019.
