Marguerite Abouet

Marguerite Abouet was born in Abidjan in 1971 and spent her first twelve years in Côte d’Ivoire before moving to France. She became known as the author of the comic series “Aya.” In 2006, she and artist Clément Oubrerie received the award for best debut at the Angoulême International Comics Festival for “Aya.” Abouet also wrote comic scripts for young readers with “Akissi.”
