Margit Schreiner

Margit Schreiner (born 1953 in Linz) is an Austrian writer. She studied German and psychology in Salzburg and worked as a university secretary from 1980 to 1982. During a stay in Tokyo from 1977 to 1980, she abandoned work on her dissertation and began writing. Since 1983, she has published fiction, novels, essays, radio plays and plays. Her debut, the short-story collection “Die Rosen des Heiligen Benedikt,” appeared in 1989. Her later works include “Haus, Frauen, Sex” and “Kein Platz mehr.” Schreiner has received numerous grants and awards, including the Upper Austrian Cultural Prize, the Austrian Literature Prize, the Johann Beer Literature Prize, the Heinrich Gleißner Prize and the Anton Wildgans Prize. “Kein Platz mehr” was nominated for the Austrian Book Prize in 2018.
