Marcello Fois was born in 1960 in Nuoro, Sardinia. The Italian writer has published novels and short stories and has also written for theatre, television and film. He became known especially for his crime series featuring the Sardinian lawyer and poet Avvocato Bustianu. His works also include the family saga about the Chironi and The Beautiful Mercede and the Master Blacksmith. Together with Carlo Lucarelli and Loriano Macchiavelli, Fois founded the writers’ group Gruppo 13. In 1992, he received the Premio Calvino.
