Maja Pflug

Maja Pflug (born in 1946 in Bad Kissingen) was a translator of Italian-language literature into German. She translated works by, among others, Natalia Ginzburg, Elsa Morante, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Cesare Pavese, Alberto Nessi, Fabrizia Ramondino, and Susanna Tamaro. She also wrote a biography of Natalia Ginzburg. Pflug received the Premio Montecchio in 1987 and the Christoph Martin Wieland Translation Prize in 1999. In 2011, she was awarded the German-Italian Translation Prize for her life’s work.
