Maja Nielsen

Maja Nielsen (born in Hamburg in 1964) studied acting at the Hamburg University of Music and Drama. Since 1998, she has worked as an author; her stories have appeared as books, audiobooks and radio features. She is particularly known for the multiple-award-winning Abenteuer! series published by Gerstenberg. In 2009, she received the German Children’s Audio Play Award for the radio play Feldpost für Pauline; the book of the same title also became a long-running bestseller. She received the Friedolin Youth Literature Prize from the Weltethos Foundation for Tatort Eden 1919. Her youth novel Der Tunnelbauer won the Buxtehuder Bulle in 2025 and was nominated for the Glauser Award in the youth crime fiction category. In 2013, booksellers named Nielsen Reading Artist of the Year.
