Lydia Cacho

Lydia Cacho (born 1963 in Mexico City) is a Mexican journalist and human rights activist. In her first book, published in 2005, she exposed a powerful pedophile ring in Mexico. She was subsequently arrested and tortured and faced a years-long legal case over a defamation charge. Cacho was acquitted in 2007. Her investigative work has earned her several awards, including the PEN Canada One Humanity Award.
