Lucy Gasser

Lucy Gasser grew up in Cape Town, South Africa, and is a scholar of literature. She worked as a junior professor of English literary and cultural studies at the University of Osnabrück. Together with the literary scholar Anna von Rath, she co-founded the bilingual online magazine pocolit.com in 2019 and launched the translation app machtsprache.de in 2021. For this work, the two were awarded the Deep Tech Award in 2022 and named Cultural and Creative Pilots. Gasser’s research focuses on postcolonial studies, cultures of the Global South, and translation.
