Ljudmila Petrushevskaya (born 1938 in Moscow) is a Russian writer and playwright. Her plays have been performed internationally, and her stories have been translated into more than thirty languages, including German. She taught at the Moscow Film School and also performed as a chanson singer. Her work received, among other honors, the Pushkin Prize in 1991 and the World Fantasy Award in 2010. Her book The Girl from the Metropol Hotel was nominated for the National Book Critics Circle Award.
