Liz Kessler

Liz Kessler (born 1966) initially worked as a teacher and journalist before becoming an author of children’s and young adult books. She is best known for the Emily Windsnap series about a mermaid, as well as her books about the fairy friend Philippa. Her first children’s book, Emily’s Secret, grew out of a poem about mermaids. Kessler lived on a houseboat for ten years. Her novel When the World Was Ours received the 2023 German Youth Literature Award from the Youth Jury.
