Lisa Phillips

Lisa Phillips is an American art historian and curator. Before joining New Museum in New York, she worked as a curator at the Whitney Museum of American Art. In April 1999, she became director of New Museum, which grew into a major international cultural institution during her tenure. She was involved in exhibitions on artists including Paul McCarthy, Elizabeth Peyton, Chris Burden, and Rosemarie Trockel. Phillips has authored more than twenty publications and has lectured extensively internationally.
