Lisa Jewell

Lisa Jewell (born 1968 in London) is a British author. Before becoming a writer, she worked in fashion retail, including for Warehouse and Thomas Pink. She studied art at Barnet College and fashion illustration at Epsom School of Art & Design. Her debut novel, Ralph’s Party, was published in 1999 and became the year’s bestselling debut novel in Britain. Jewell has since published primarily psychological suspense novels, including The Family Upstairs and The Family Remains. Her books have repeatedly reached number one on the Sunday Times bestseller list. The idea for her debut arose from a bet with a friend: Jewell was challenged to write three chapters in exchange for dinner.
