Lisa Jewell, born in London in 1968, is a British author. She studied art at Barnet College and fashion illustration at Epsom School of Art & Design. Before becoming a writer, she worked in fashion retail, including at Warehouse and Thomas Pink. Her debut novel, Ralph’s Party, grew out of a wager with a friend and became the UK’s bestselling debut novel of 1999. Her novels include The Family Upstairs and The Family Remains.
