Lilly Maier (born 1992) studied history in Munich and journalism at New York University as a Fulbright scholar. In 2018, she published “Arthur und Lilly. Das Mädchen und der Holocaust-Überlebende,” a biography of one of the children rescued by Ernst Papanek. Her thesis on the long-term effects of the Kindertransports received the 2014 Forscherpreis für exzellente Studierende award. Maier worked as an educator at the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial and as a freelance journalist.
