Leopold Federmair

Leopold Federmair was born in Upper Austria in 1957 and studied German, journalism and history at the University of Salzburg. He worked as a writer, essayist, critic and translator from French, Spanish and Italian. Among the authors he translated are Michel Houellebecq, José Emilio Pacheco and Francis Ponge. In 2012, Federmair received the Austrian State Prize for Literary Translation. His own books include, among others, “Ein Büro in La Boca,” “Wandlungen des Prinzen Genji,” “Ins Licht,” and “Schönheit und Schmerz.”
