Lawrence Schiller began his career as a photojournalist for Life, Time, and Paris Match. During the 1960s, he photographed numerous prominent figures, including Marilyn Monroe, Barbra Streisand, Muhammad Ali, Floyd Patterson, Robert Redford, and Paul Newman. His book projects include five New York Times bestsellers as well as Marilyn & Me, Barbra, and Gnadenlos. Schiller directed or produced around 20 theatrical films, including the documentaries The American Dreamer and The Man Who Skied Down Everest, which won an Academy Award. Television productions he was involved with, including Gnadenlos and Peter the Great, received a total of five Emmy Awards.
