Kristina Scharmacher-Schreiber

Kristina Scharmacher-Schreiber studied German literature in Münster and Bergamo and wrote for several newspapers during her studies. She subsequently worked for many years behind the scenes at major opera houses. In 2016, she began working independently as an author and translator. Since then, she has published several children’s and nonfiction books. Her work has received awards including the Gustav Heinemann Peace Prize for Children’s and Young People’s Literature, the Franco-German Youth Literature Prize, the EMYS Jahrespreis and the Lesekompass. One of her nonfiction books was also named Science Book of the Year 2020 in the Junior Knowledge category.
