Konrad Beikircher

Konrad Beikircher (born 1945) is from Bruneck in South Tyrol. He studied musicology and psychology, first in Vienna and later in Bonn, and worked from 1971 to 1986 as a psychologist in the correctional services, including at the Siegburg juvenile detention facility. He subsequently worked as a cabaret artist, composer, musician, presenter and author. His publications included children’s literature, radio plays, composer portraits, opera librettos, and guides to concerts and opera. His cabaret programs and books focused particularly on the language and culture of the Rhineland; notable titles include *Et kütt wie et kütt – Das Rheinische Grundgesetz*, *Andante Spumante* and *Palazzo Bajazzo*. He received several awards for his contributions to the Rhineland dialect, including the Cologne Literature Prize in 2006.
