Klaus Peter Arnold, born in Vienna in 1942, studied geography and history at the University of Vienna and received his doctorate in 1973 with a dissertation on the Östliche Sattnitz region in Carinthia. After working as an assistant at the Institute of Economic Geography at the Vienna University of Economics and Business, he completed his habilitation in 1989 with a study of the industrial geography of Lower Austria. Arnold was a professor at the Institute of Economic Geography and served as a lecturer in tourism geography from 1975. From 1998 to 2007, he headed Austria’s university programme in tourism management, where he introduced e-learning as a new form of education in 1999. He published numerous studies and works on tourism geography.
