Klaus Behling

Klaus Behling, born in 1949, is a scholar of Asian studies who served in the GDR diplomatic service until 1987, including postings in Laos, Cambodia and Romania. He then worked at the Institute for International Relations until the political transition in East Germany. From 1991 until his retirement, he worked as a journalist for Springer Verlag. As an author and journalist, he focused mainly on the history of the GDR and its consequences in reunified Germany. His publications include “Leben in der DDR,” “Leben nach der DDR,” “Die Kriminalgeschichte der DDR” and “Auf den Spuren der Alten Meister.” He co-authored “Attentat auf Honecker und andere besondere Vorkommnisse” with Jan Eik.
