Kevin Wignall was born in Belgium and spent his childhood in various parts of Europe as the child of a member of the armed forces. At the age of nine, he moved with his parents to a small town in western England. He studied politics and international relations before becoming a novelist. Wignall has written numerous thrillers for adults; When We Were Lost was his first young adult novel. In 2008, he was nominated for both the Edgar Award and the Barry Award for Die letzte Wahrheit.
