Kevin Henkes

Kevin Henkes began his career as a picture-book author and illustrator at the age of 19. His first picture book, “A Very Special House” (“Ganz allein” in German), was published in 1981. He subsequently published numerous picture books and children’s and young adult novels, including “... und dann kam Joselle,” “The Sign in My Hand,” and “This Time It’s Forever.” “... und dann kam Joselle” was nominated for the German Youth Literature Prize. His novel “Olive’s Ocean” was named a 2004 Newbery Honor Book. Henkes wrote and illustrated his books himself, working with both words and images.
