Katja Rothe is a Germanist and cultural studies scholar with a doctorate. She studied modern German literature, modern and contemporary history, psychology, and cultural studies at Humboldt University of Berlin, where she completed her doctorate in the DFG Research Training Group “Coding Violence in Media Change.” Over the course of her academic career, she taught and conducted research at institutions including Berlin University of the Arts, Freie Universität Berlin, Technische Universität Berlin, Ruhr University Bochum, and the University of Vienna, as well as at eikones – NFS Bildkritik in Basel. Her research interests included media theory, the history of radio, and the cultural and intellectual history of psychological, technical, and aesthetic knowledge, particularly during the interwar period.
