Katherine Mansfield

Katherine Mansfield (1888–1923), born in Wellington, New Zealand, was a New Zealand-British writer. She is regarded as an important author of literary modernism and a master of the short story. From 1908 she lived mainly in London and published short fiction as well as essays and journalism. Her notable works include the story collection *In a German Pension* (1911) and the story *The Aloe*. Mansfield died of tuberculosis in Fontainebleau, France, in 1923.
