Katharina Winkler, born in Vienna in 1979, studied German and theatre studies. Her debut novel, “Blauschmuck,” was published by Suhrkamp in 2016 and translated into six languages. The widely acclaimed work received, among other distinctions, the Basque Premio Euskadi de Plata for the best German-language novel and the French Prix du premier roman étranger in 2017 for the best foreign-language debut. “(au) revoir Édith Piaf!” was her theatre debut, and “Siebenmeilenherz” was her first publication with Matthes & Seitz Berlin.
