Karl Joseph Simrock (1802–1876) was a German poet, writer, translator, and philologist. He became known chiefly for his translations of medieval German literature into modern German, including the Nibelungenlied and poems by Walther von der Vogelweide. He also published adaptations of the German chapbooks known as the Deutsche Volksbücher and retellings of Norse myths, helping to popularize medieval and Nordic subjects in the 19th century.
