Karl Lagerfeld

Karl Lagerfeld was a fashion designer, photographer and publisher. He also began working as a photographer in 1987. His notable photobooks include *Casa Malaparte* (1998), *A Portrait of Dorian Gray* (2004), *Room Service* (2006), *The Beauty of Violence* (2010) and *The Little Black Jacket* (2012). Many of his books were published by Steidl. For his photographic work, Lagerfeld received, among other distinctions, the 2007 Lucky Strike Design Award from the Raymond Loewy Foundation and the Cultural Award of the German Society for Photography. He died on 19 February 2019.
