Karina Urbach

Karina Urbach is a German-British historian and author. She earned her doctorate at the University of Cambridge and completed her habilitation in 2009. She taught at German and British universities, worked at the German Historical Institute London and the University of London, and conducted research at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton. She also contributed to historical documentaries for the BBC, ZDF and the US broadcaster PBS. Her nonfiction books include *Hitlers heimliche Helfer*, *Queen Victoria* and *Das Buch Alice. Wie die Nazis das Kochbuch meiner Großmutter raubten*, which was translated into several languages and became the basis for an award-winning ARTE documentary. She published her historical novel about the Cambridge Five under the pseudonym Hannah Coler; *Die Zeit der Verräter* won the 2018 Crime Cologne Award.
