Karamba Diaby

Karamba Diaby was born in 1961 in Marsassoum, Senegal. He came to the German Democratic Republic in 1985 to study. His dissertation in geoecology focused on allotment gardens in Halle. After many years of involvement in integration work and opposition to racism, he became a member of Halle’s city council in 2009. In 2013, Diaby was elected to the German Bundestag as the first parliamentarian born in Africa. He is a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD).
