Kamala Harris

Kamala D. Harris, born in Oakland in 1964, is an American lawyer and politician. After studying law, she began her career as a district attorney in San Francisco. In 2011, she became California’s attorney general and chief legal officer, and in 2017 she was elected to the U.S. Senate as a Democrat. She later served as vice president of the United States. Her political work has focused in particular on opposing racism and social discrimination and on reforming the American criminal justice system.
