Kai Michel, born in Hamburg in 1967, is a historian and literary scholar. He has written for German-language publications including GEO, Die Zeit and the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. Together with evolutionary biologist Carel van Schaik, he co-authored works including “The Diary of Mankind,” “The Truth About Eve” and “Being Human.” With archaeologist Harald Meller, he wrote “The Nebra Sky Disc,” “Reaching for the Stars” and “The Riddle of the Shaman.” “The Truth About Eve,” an analysis of the origins of gender inequality, received an award.
