Kahlil Gibran

Kahlil Gibran (1883–1931) was a Lebanese-American writer and painter. He wrote in Arabic and English and is regarded as an important figure in modern Arabic literature. His best-known books include *The Prophet*, *Broken Wings*, *The Madman*, *The Forerunner*, *Jesus the Son of Man*, and *The Wanderer*. His writing combined poetic and mystical elements with themes including freedom, tyranny, and the position of women.
