Justus Carl (born 1991) studied political science, Romance studies and Scandinavian studies, earning a Master of Arts in Scandinavian studies. Before completing school, he spent a year abroad in Sweden. From 2017 onward, he worked as a freelance literary translator from Danish, Swedish and Norwegian. His translation work was supported by, among others, fellowships from the German Translators’ Fund and the Literary Colloquium Berlin.
