Julian Voloj

Julian Voloj was born in Münster, Germany, to Colombian immigrants. After studying literature, he worked as an author, journalist, and photographer. He has written several biographical graphic novels, including “Ghetto Brother” (with Claudia Ahlering), “Joe Shuster: Father of the Superheroes” (with Thomas Campi), “A Life for Football” (with Marcin Podolec), “Basquiat” (with Søren Mosdal), “The Jew’s Beech” and “Marlene Dietrich: Moments of a Life” (both with Claudia Ahlering), as well as “Bobby Fischer: A Chess Legend Between Genius and Madness.” His photographic work focuses particularly on questions of identity and the treatment of cultural heritage.
