Jules Renard

Jules Renard (Pierre-Jules Renard, 1864–1910) was a French writer and dramatist. He wrote novels, short stories, and plays, and became particularly known for his diaries, which are marked by aphoristic observations. One of his best-known works is “Poil de Carotte” (1894), an autobiographical novel or long short story about the difficult childhood of a red-haired, unloved boy.
