Judith W. Taschler was born in Linz in 1970 and grew up in the Mühlviertel region of Austria. After spending time abroad and working in various jobs, she studied German and history; she subsequently worked as a teacher for several years. She became known in particular for the novel *Die Deutschlehrerin*, which received the Friedrich Glauser Prize in 2014 and appeared on the Spiegel bestseller list. Her other novels include *Roman ohne U*, *bleiben*, *David*, *Das Geburtstagsfest*, and *Über Carl reden wir morgen* (2022).
