Judith W. Taschler was born in Linz in 1970 and grew up in the Mühlviertel region of Austria. She studied German and history and worked as a teacher before becoming known as a writer. Her published works include the novels »Sommer wie Winter«, »Die Deutschlehrerin«, »Roman ohne U« and »Über Carl reden wir morgen«, as well as the short-story collection »Apanies Perlen«. She received the Friedrich Glauser Prize for »Die Deutschlehrerin«. Taschler grew up with six siblings, many animals and books in a large house.
