Joseph Murphy (1898–1981) was an Irish-born author and a prominent figure in the New Thought movement. He emigrated to the United States in 1922, where he studied religious studies, philosophy, and law. In 1962, he published his best-known work, *The Power of Your Subconscious Mind*, followed by numerous other books. He also gave lectures and influenced the fields of self-help literature and positive thinking.
