Joseph M. Bocheński (1902–1995) was a member of the Dominican Order, earned doctorates in philosophy and theology, and served as a professor of philosophy in Fribourg. An internationally recognized logician, he advised the first Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany. He also served as a soldier in two wars. An unusual personal passion was aviation: he continued flying aircraft into his eighties.
