Joseph Joffo

Joseph Joffo (born 1931 in Paris) was a French writer, screenwriter, and actor. After leaving school at the age of fourteen, he took over his father’s barbershop together with his three brothers. During bed rest following a skiing accident, he began writing down his memories in 1971. They became Un sac de billes, an account of his childhood as a Jewish boy in German-occupied France. The book was translated into numerous languages and adapted several times for the stage and screen.
