Jonathan Franzen

Jonathan Franzen, born near Chicago in 1959, is an American writer. He is best known for the novel *The Corrections*, which won the National Book Award in 2001. His other novels include *The Twenty-Seventh City*, *Strong Motion*, *Freedom*, and *Purity*. He has also published the autobiographical book *The Discomfort Zone*, several essay collections, and *The Kraus Project*. He received the WELT Literature Prize for his overall body of work in 2013 and the Thomas Mann Prize in 2022. In 2015, he was awarded the EuroNatur Prize for his commitment to protecting wild birds.
