Jón Thor Gíslason (born 1957 in Hafnarfjörður, Iceland) is an Icelandic visual artist, translator, and author. Until 1988, he worked as a professional pop musician in Iceland before completing postgraduate studies at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart. From 1991 onward, he was represented in solo and group exhibitions in Germany and abroad. He also worked for a period as a Germany correspondent covering art and culture for the Icelandic daily Morgunblaðið. In 2001, he received an art scholarship from the Icelandic state. His publications include short stories and translations of Icelandic poetry, often produced in collaboration with Wolfgang Schiffer.
