John Vercher

John Vercher is an American writer. He studied English at the University of Pittsburgh and earned an MFA in creative writing from the Mountainview Master of Fine Arts program. His debut novel, “Three-Fifths,” was published in 2019 and was named one of the best books of the year by the Chicago Tribune and, in the United Kingdom, by The Sunday Times, the Financial Times, and The Guardian. His second novel, “After the Lights Go Out,” was published in 2022. Vercher has also published writing on ancestry and identity with Cognoscenti, the opinion section of WBUR Boston, as well as nonfiction in Entropy Magazine.
