John Ridley

John Ridley (born 1965) worked as a writer for film, television, novels, and comics. During the 1990s, he wrote screenplays for series including “Martin” and “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” His debut novel, “Stray Dogs,” was adapted by Oliver Stone into the 1997 film “U-Turn.” Ridley created and directed the television series “American Crime” and “Guerrilla” and contributed to the screenplays of films including “Three Kings,” “Red Tails,” and “12 Years a Slave.” He received the 2014 Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for “12 Years a Slave.” His comics work includes “The American Way,” “Black Panther,” and stories featuring Batman, Superman, and Wolverine.
