John Milton

John Milton (1608–1674) was an English poet, thinker, and civil servant under Oliver Cromwell. He was born in London and died in Bunhill near London. Milton wrote in English, Latin, and Italian. His best-known work is the epic poem *Paradise Lost*, which explores themes including guilt, the Fall, freedom, and self-determination.
