John Meade Falkner

John Meade Falkner (1858–1932) was an English author, antiquarian and businessman. After studying at Oxford, he initially worked as a teacher and travelled extensively through Europe. He later became a private tutor in the household of an arms manufacturer, joined the manufacturer’s company and directed it from 1915 to 1926. Falkner subsequently served as an honorary professor of palaeography. He published three novels, several travel guides and a history of Oxfordshire.
