John Cleese, born in 1939 in Weston-super-Mare, England, is a British actor and writer. While studying law at Cambridge, he gained his first stage experience and later became known as a founding member of the comedy group Monty Python. He wrote for and acted in productions including Life of Brian and A Fish Called Wanda. He also appeared in film series such as James Bond, Harry Potter and Shrek. His work earned him, among other distinctions, several Emmy nominations and an Academy Award nomination.
